Which Is More Popular Diamond Or Pearl

Diamonds and pearls are the most popular gems on the planet. It is very hard to distinguish which one is more famous. Diamonds and pearls are both expensive gems that are widely used to make different types of diamond and Pearl jewellery. The diamond is considered to be the symbol of indestructible and everlasting love and the pearl is considered the symbol of purity.

Diamonds are the hardest substance and are created by intense heat and pressure. The thing about diamonds though is there needs to be a sculptor. A diamond is only valuable when it is sculpted by the work of a man’s hands. Where as A pearl is a hard object which is created by living organism. A pearl is made up of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers of oyster.Diamonds can be extremely expensive, although the price of the diamond depends on how well-cut it is. A diamond can be cut into several different shapes, such as heart, round, square or oblong shapes. A pearl’s natural shape is round, and it cannot be cut into different shapes, but there can be a difference in the sizes of the pearls.

Diamond prices are measured and decided upon based on carats. The higher the number of carats the diamond is rated, the costlier the diamond will be. Color is also an important factor in diamonds, as some of the most expensive diamonds have a rare color, for example, pink diamonds. Pink diamonds are extremely rare and costly. The price of pearls is determined by the rarity of that kind of pearl, and its luster. A good natural pearl will have a high luster, which cannot be imitated or artificially created.

History of Pearl

The pearl is the oldest known gem, and for centuries it was considered the most valuable. A fragment of the oldest known pearl jewelry, found in the sarcophagus of a Persian princess who died in 520 BC, is displayed in the Louvre in Paris. To the ancients, pearls were a symbol of the moon and had magical powers. In classical Rome, only persons above a certain rank were allowed to wear pearl jewelry. Pearls have been considered ideal wedding gifts because they symbolize purity and innocence.

Pearls are amongst the oldest and most universal of all gems. They are the oldest jewels known to man, and the only gem made by a living animal. The oldest surviving pearl necklace is nearly 2000 years old and was found in the sarcophagus of a Persian Princess. In many countries pearls were worn as a declaration of wealth and power, and also used as a talisman to bring good fortune, to ward off evil spirits and to cure illnesses. Pearls were symbolic of purity, chastity and feminine charm.

In ancient Rome, pearls were a highly prized accessory, and worn as a symbol of wealth and prestige. They were such a status symbol, that an effort was actually made to prohibit the wearing of pearls by those not deserving of them. Perhaps the most celebrated incident in Roman history involving pearls has to do with a banquet given by Cleopatra, the last Egyptian queen, for the Roman leader Marc Antony. The banquet was described by the Roman historian Pliny the Elder in his book, “Natural History”. Although some current historians dispute the details and significance of the banquet, there is general agreement that the incident described did indeed take place. The essence of the story is that Cleopatra wagered Antony that she could give the most expensive meal ever provided. When the only thing placed in front of her was a vessel of sour wine (i.e., vinegar), Antony wondered how she would be able to win the bet. Whereupon Cleopatra removed one of her pearl earrings -- said by Pliny to have been worth 10 million sesterces, the equivalent of thousands of pounds of gold -- and dropped it into the vinegar. The pearl dissolved in the strongly acidic solution, and Cleopatra drank it down, winning her wager.

The effect on the pearl industry of the discovery of pearl culturing, combined with Mikimoto's marketing enthusiasm, cannot be understated. During a span of less than 50 years at the beginning of the 20th century, thousands of years of pearl history were rewritten. Pearl Jewellery -- historically the exclusive possessions of royalty and aristocracy -- became available to virtually anyone on the planet. Rather than pearl divers hunting, often in vain, for the elusive, naturally formed pearls, pearl farmers could now cultivate thousands upon thousands of pearls in virtually the same way as a wheat or corn farmer grows his own crop. And pearl lovers throughout the world could reap the benefits.

Akoya pearl Vs Tahitian Pearl

Akoya pearls can come from China or Japan and are salt water pearls. These pearls are small, white, round and are what most shoppers visualize when they think about buying pearls. Akoya pearls are very expensive as compared to freshwater pearls. Akoya pearls are of a higher quality than freshwater. Additionally, akoya pearls from Japan are thought to be of higher quality than those from China. The thickness of the nacre, lack of surface blemishes and the luster of the pearl will dictate its quality. Natural akoyas usually have either a silver or pink overtone – so select the strand with the overtone that compliments your particular facial tones. Akoya pearls are typically roundish. Their body colors range from light pink to white or creamy. Sizes range from 3mm – 9mm. Round Akoya pearls larger than10 mm are very rare, if there are, their price will be much higher than the same size South sea pearls.

Tahitian pearls are very expensive due to the fact that the Tahitian government limits the exporting of its pearls to those that have at least 8mm nacre thickness. Most Tahitian pearls come from French Polynesia, which is a part of the island of Tahiti. And while Tahitian pearls will have varying colored undertones. The most expensive of Tahitian pearls will have one that is greenish. Black pearls might not be suitable to be worn with a white wedding gown but they would certainly combine very well and be quite stylish worn with a non-white wedding dress. Tahitian Pearls are all natural and organic so they logically come in all shapes and sizes, from Pearl that are perfectly round or “Spherical,” such as the "classic" pearl shape that we all are so commonly most familiar with, to those that are known as “Symmetrical,” meaning that these pearls are not necessarily round, but definitely have a delightfully regular shape that is noticeably balanced and visually regular in appearance, where, if one were to carefully slice the pearl in half, each separate half would be an exact, equal  “mirror image” of the other half. Pearl Jewellery manufactured from Tahitian pearl are more expensive than pearl jewellery from akoya pearl  because tahitian pearl are very rare found.

Why Shopping Online Is Better Idea

Online shopping is a great resource for finding products that are being liquidated. Housing this product in a central warehouse allows the retailer to sell products longer by letting them sit, unsold, without destroying their profit margin. This practice promotes big savings for customers who do not need to purchase the most current products. At the beginning, people tend to do shopping online because they are curious with and interested in the fresh thing on the Internet. They try to find the differences between shopping online and shopping in a market. They want to know which one is better for them.Gradually, people finally know that the goods on the Internet is much cheaper than those in the market, because of their lower cost.

When shopping in a store you have to deal with, long lines, ignorant customers, bad customer service, price checking, driving to the store, unpacking your stuff when you get home, kids crying at the store for toys, high prices for certain items, and so on. All these are situations that happen in everyday life for people all over the world. For some people they are not too stressful but can still be a pain, online shopping is better but is also stressful. When you purchase something online you usually create an account there. One of the side benefits of having an account at a retailer is that they may send you special offers or notify you of special online sales. Some see this as a double edged sword as their inbox is deluged with every last marketing communique, but we are seeing it as an opportunity to be cheaply notified of a special offer that is targeted for us.

The stressful factors you have to deal with when shopping online are having to pay shipping costs, having to wait a week or more for item, having to pay expensive shipping costs for next day delivery, items being sold out, having to pay high prices for older items, and so on. So basically the worst parts of shopping in a retail store is bad customer service, long lines, etc. and with online shopping its high prices for shipping. There are so many stores around the world that we can go to these days; one especially is the Real Shoppee. Nowadays, though people shop online which is a great way to reduce stress and save money, sometimes at least.

Natural Pearl vs Cultured Pearl

Natural pearls, are pearls formed by chance. Cultured pearls have been given a helping hand by man. Today, nearly all pearls are cultured. By inserting a foreign object into a mollusk, pearl farmers can induce the creation of a pearl. From there, the same process of natural pearl creation takes place. The difference is that in this case, the inducement is intentional.

Natural pearls are formed randomly and really are simple accidents of nature. When a certain type of irritant, such as a parasite, becomes lodged in the tissue of a mollusk, the animal responds by secreting a calcium carbonate substance called nacre to coat the intruder and protect the mollusk. Over a period of several years, this build-up of nacre forms a natural pearl. Where as Cultured pearls are still real pearls, grown organically inside of oysters in the same way as natural pearls. The difference is, that in the case of cultured pearls, the pearl farmer intentionally stimulates the development of the pearl by inserting a "nucleus" into the oyster. Thus, the formation and discovery of the pearl are no longer left to chance.

cultured pearls tend to be perfectly spherical in shape, while natural pearls may or may not be spherical. Similarly, you will see a slightly greenish tinge in cultured pearls which won't be seen in natural pearls. Cultured pearls can be distinguished from natural pearls through the use of x-rays, which reveal the inner part of the pearl. Any pearl that is grown and Pearl Jewellery marketed today, are considered cultured pearls. This is because these pearls would not exist without human intervention. A freshwater pearl, although it may be solid nacre, is a cultured pearl where the mussel was nucleated with a piece of mantle tissue in their mantle tissue. All pearls cultured in saltwater are nucleated in the gonad with a piece of mantle tissue, and a mother-of-pearl bead, which is how akoya pearls are nucleated. This is why akoya pearls are cultured pearls, but they are saltwater, not freshwater, and much different in appearance and more valuable than freshwater pearls.
